The GOOD VS The BAD

The Good

Scubapro Seawing NovaNow, Lets look at some of the great features and benefits which makes this scuba fin so amazing and a great buy.

  • Scubapro claims the fins to be more  flexible and tougher than you may actually require them to be because they’re made out of tough Monprene making the Seawing Nova practically unbreakable.
  • The blade of the fin is actually connected by two flexible ‘arms’ that permit it to function harder in water than the diver’s leg typically permits in traditional paddle fins (a persons ankle is only able to bend to a certain point). Because of this a lot of the diver’s power is focused into pushing water backwards instead of pulling a flat plate through the water.
  • The blade also has up-curved edges that help with the fin’s steady feel within the water. Additionally, it reduces drag on both the upstroke as well as the downstroke.
  • The foot pocket comes with an expanded heel plate that Scubapro claims enhances power transmission as well as reduces lower leg strain.
  • Positively buoyant, they’re light-weight  and are perfect for when you are on a trip, it weight is only 1lbs., 14 0z. in a size M.
  • Heavy duty marine grade bungee straps system are designed for quick to put on comfort. Getting this fin off and on is a piece of cake, equally on deck and within the water.
  • Scubapro’s Seawing Nova, Is ScubaLab Testers Choice for the year of 2010, and it is available today in white as well as black.

The Bad

  • Pricey,  at $189 these fins are very pricey compared to other on the market today. Howver, there are places to get it much cheaper, like from the link below.
  • Light a buoyant under the water, many diver find  them to be very buoyant on the dive and have to make adjustment to their diving styles.
  • Also, many diver how used the fins states that they don’t perform in stiff currents, but on the other hand there are a few diver’s how do prefer to dive with them in stiff currents.
  • A few divers reported tearing at the arms, however majority of divers in forum and on the web attest to its durability.

What other real divers are saying about the Seawing Nova

Great Fins – Happy I Bought Them

I purchased these after reading all the reviews posted on LeisurePro. I used them on four dives in the Florida Keys and was extremely happy with them. They are much lighter than my other fins and are very easy to put on or take off in and out of the water. I was taking photographs and would occassionally fall behind my group and would catch up very quickly with just a few kicks. They excelled in mild to moderate current, are easy to manuever in and were effortless to use. I wear a size 9 bootie and mediums fit well. They are now my favorite fins.

I just had my Seawing Novas out for the first time last month in Curacao. I did 19 dives with them. Overall, I loved them. Super light, the propulsion when needed is amazing. The bungee strap is awesome. Only potential downside is the positive buoyancy.

Wow its interesting seeing all these durability issues. I have over 100 dives on my pair and they are showing no signs of wear and tear. I do not baby mine at all and if anything really abuse them. I have done giant strides from boats and shore entry’s as well and so far so good. Great pair of fins – just wish I had got the white ones for the low viz here in the lake.

Brilliant!

Used them for the first time yesterday. First dive didnt think they were that impressive, but second and third dive started to love them. You almost feel like your not wearing fins, in fact I kept swimming off on my buddy. Even started dolphin kicking for the fun of it.

The spring strap is awesome and would never go back to the old style. Made it quick and easy to get out of the water and off the platform. Especially important as it was quite rough.

Cant beat the LeisurePro price either
